- Serve as the on-site VLF facility subject matter expert by providing mechanical system expertise
- Conduct risk assessments of mechanical / structural hazards, regulatory compliance and propose solutions.
- Timely and effective communication of hazards, defects and design or maintenance deficiencies.
- Liaise with Raytheon management on project engineering issues, design process and engineering change development and execute according to company and program procedures.
- Coordinate with mission partners, acting as a key technical liaison and ensuring that the facility is fully integrated into broader mission planning.
- Identify potential issues and areas for improvement within the VLF mission system.
- Participate in technical reviews and audits.
- Mentor engineering and technical staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree with power generation or mechanical systems industry experience.
- Minimum of six years’ experience in operational and/or in-service support phases of major programs, preferably in Defence technology and/or regional/remote power generation related industries.
- Understanding of systems engineering, engineering support, maintenance support, and technical documentation disciplines.
- Knowledge of product life cycle and experience with system performance metrics.
- Solid skills in relevant business and engineering applications.
- Infrequent travel to Adelaide will be required to support engineering investigations as well as travel within Australia for business and development related training.
- Candidate must be eligible to obtain an Australian defence security clearance. Eligibility can be found at http://www.defence.gov.au/ag with ability to satisfy ITAR material access compliance.
- Experience making improvements to processes, systems, or products to enhance performance.
- Willingness to become and maintain a chartered professional engineering status via Engineers Australia.
- Understanding of different power generation technologies and international power standards, such US standards.
