The College is committed to elevating healthcare outcomes for Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and Māori communities guided by its commitments to reconciliation and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.About the roleThis identified position plays a vital role in administering and supporting cultural planning for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander membership and staff.In this role, you’ll help to foster College’s commitment to culturally safe, responsive, and accessible psychiatric care by and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. A key focus will be supporting staff in developing and delivering tailored Cultural Support Plans for members who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.You’ll also contribute to the success of key initiatives by coordinating and advising on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-related projects and programs, including (but not limited to) the Specialist Training Program (STP) and the Psychiatry Interest Forum (PIF). Ongoing monitoring, review, and evaluation of progress and outcomes will be central to your work.What you'll bringTo succeed in this role, you will bring knowledge and/or lived experience of the issues impacting access to healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and professionals. You’ll have a deep understanding of culturally safe and respectful engagement, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will also have:
  • Demonstrated experience in public health, health, policy, or a related area.
  • A strong track record of engaging effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, or organisations.
  • Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or the legal right to work in Australia.
