Great career progressionMORE ABOUT THE ROLE:A concrete batcher is a crucial role in the construction industry, particularly in projects where large amounts of concrete are required. Their primary responsibility is to oversee the mixing of concrete ingredients according to specific formulas or specifications. This role is based both in a plant and in an office. This will entail taking orders over the phones, data logging, tracking where the trucks go to and plenty more. The other part of the role is using a front end loader to move a concrete and materials throughout the plant/s.Here's a breakdown of their role:Mixing and Batching: Concrete batchers are responsible for accurately measuring and combining raw materials such as cement, aggregates (like sand and gravel), water, and sometimes additives or admixtures to create concrete batches. They must follow precise mixing ratios and formulas to ensure the desired concrete properties are achieved.Quality Control: Ensuring the quality of the concrete is paramount. Batchers must inspect raw materials for consistency and quality. They may conduct tests on samples of concrete to ensure it meets strength, durability, and other performance requirements.Equipment Operation: Concrete batchers operate and maintain batch plants or mixing equipment. They must be familiar with the machinery used in the batching process and ensure it is functioning properly. This includes regular maintenance and cleaning to prevent breakdowns and ensure consistent operation.Safety Compliance: Safety is a top priority in construction. Batchers must adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for themselves and their colleagues. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety guidelines when handling materials and operating equipment.Communication: Effective communication is essential in construction projects. Batchers often work closely with other team members such as concrete truck drivers, project managers, and construction supervisors. They must communicate effectively to coordinate batching schedules, address any issues or concerns, and ensure seamless workflow on the job site.Documentation and Record-Keeping: Keeping accurate records is important for tracking material usage, batch specifications, and quality control tests. Batchers typically maintain detailed logs and documentation of batching activities, including batch tickets, test results, and production reports.Overall, the role of a concrete batcher requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of concrete materials and processes. They play a critical role in ensuring that concrete is mixed to the required specifications and meets the quality standards for construction projects. If this sounds like you please feel free to apply or call Joshua@Randstad - 0437 429 234At Randstad, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all.
