You will have a chance to make a real difference to your local communities and to the lives of those you work with.About the roleThe Office of the Public Advocate promotes and protects the rights of adults with decision-making disabilities to reduce their risk of neglect, exploitation and abuse through the provision of its statutory services in accordance with the functions of the Public Advocate under Guardianship and Administration Act 1990 (the Act).As a Senior Guardian you will manage and lead a team of guardians and assist in the prioritisation and allocation of work, including supporting the Managers Guardianship with policy and process development. You will take on the management of highly sensitive and complex cases and make personal and lifestyle decisions on behalf of represented persons and advocate on their behalf.Eligibility to apply
  • A tertiary qualification in social or behavioural sciences or related fields and/or equivalent experience is essential.
  • A current and valid ‘C’ class driver’s licence or equivalent.
About youWe are looking for people who:
  • have the capacity to manage a diverse caseload
  • have an ability to analyse and assess information from varying sources and make decisions, including where parties may have conflicting views and interests
  • have the ability to manage and supervise a team of guardians who have diverse skills and abilities
As a Senior Guardian you will need to be available for country travel and participate in an after-hours On Call Guardian roster.All employees are required to undergo employment screening, which includes a National Criminal History Check and other checks that may be relevant to the position requirements.Application process
