DESCRIPTIONThe Senior WHS Specialist will support Amazon's injury prevention and workplace health and safety program. In this position, you will be a part of the regional Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Team and will lead both health and safety and proactive activities across multiple sites. This position will work in a specified region and report directly to a Sr. WHS Manager.The Senior WHS Specialist will be responsible for partnering with an Operations Team across several sites to execute Associate workplace health and safety, injury prevention and ensure compliance to with applicable local, regional, and federal regulations. This role will influence peers and senior leaders to support a culture of safety.The Senior WHS Specialist will collaborate with the WHS Field ergonomics team, WHS field WHS teams, Process Engineers, Operational Excellence and WHS Project management team and act as a facilitator for scaling safety and ergonomic improvement initiatives. They will perform data analysis, identify network level disparity, design and develop programs and mechanisms, work across multiple stakeholders, provide guidance for site level changes and track successful program implementation.The Senior WHS Specialist will directly partner with and support the Senior WHS Manager by leading regional collaborative efforts within the network. This individual will coordinate and deliver training to Injury prevention specialists and operations leaders. The Senior WHS will ensure helpful resources are gathered and shared with the entire WHS community. They also lead the efforts in tracking all Safety projects within the network and produce weekly business report and monthly business reports to stakeholder.Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities:
  • Dive deep, learn each site's areas of opportunity within the region, and identify the risk reduction efforts to focus on.
  • Lead and coordinate efforts to deliver ergonomic assessments with guidance from the global ergonomics team
  • Evaluate trends, provide analysis of all injuries across the region, and develop actions plans to mitigate risk.
  • Ensure a collaborative and streamlined approach is in place and that site WHS are following the established mechanisms for WHS project management.
  • Identify and define measurable project objectives and outcomes for the region while ensuring collaboration and scale
  • Support the site team's execution of Wellness and health programs and the improvement of Wellness services performance at a regional level
  • Create and deliver weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly business reports to key stakeholders
  • Maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues in the workplace
  • Analyze accident data, new processes, and possible solutions for potential safety concerns, risk assessments, conduct job hazard-assessments, job safety analyses, stakeholder management, forecasting.
  • Lead large projects across multiple sites and work across multiple stakeholders
  • Implement lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
This position will be based at a fulfilment center and require travel throughout AU.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree workplace health and safety, occupational safety, athletic training, ergonomic, kinesiology, or related field
  • Experience in an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, Injury Prevention Specialist, Risk Reduction or related role
  • Working knowledge of Australia model Work health and Safety (WHS) laws, WHS Act, Regulations and Codes of Practice.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree workplace health and safety, occupational safety, athletic training, ergonomics, kinesiology, or related field
  • Distribution Center or Manufacturing WHS experience with mix of exempt and non-exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people
  • Certified Safety Professional
