- Underwrite single-risk Open Market opportunities including new business, renewals, and endorsements.
- Take ownership of various binders, managing day-to-day referrals and overseeing the renewal process.
- Operate within delegated underwriting authority and escalate referrals with clear recommendations when required.
- Develop a strong understanding of the Lloyd's of London model, including internal systems, premium booking, and credit control processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Underwriting Support, Delegated Authority, and other operational departments.
- Maintain accurate and compliant underwriting files and documentation.
- Proactively manage upcoming risks and renewal timelines in coordination with brokers.
- Monitor underwriting workloads and ensure timely completion of risk records in line with underwriting guidelines.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory and internal procedures.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients to support business development.
- Coordinate and document Underwriting team meetings, including agendas, minutes, and action item follow-ups.
- Actively support and promote Diversity and Inclusion initiatives across the company and within the Australia and New Zealand region.
- Proven underwriting experience in Casualty product lines, including General Liability, Primary, Umbrella, and Excess, within the Australian market.
- Prior experience managing binders or facilities is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute underwriting strategies, consistently meeting ambitious yet achievable targets and KPIs.
- Strong broker network across Australia, with the ability to generate new business and contribute to portfolio growth.
- Willingness to collaborate on cross-class opportunities where they align with profitability goals.
- High attention to detail and a thorough understanding of underwriting processes and compliance requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other core IT systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience working within a Lloyd's syndicate environment would be a plus.
