People from all walks of life find themselves calling Tennant Creek home.About the RoleThe CaFIS Team Leader will provide the program leadership and necessary support for ongoing development, implementation and facilitation of the Children and Families Intensive Support (CaFIS) program within the Piliyintinji-ki Stronger Families Section in order to support families referred from internal and external agencies.The CaFIS Team Leader will lead a small team to ensure the services are provided in a culturally appropriate way with support plans that meet the identified needs of the families and children referred.More specifically, some of your duties will include (but will not be limited to):
  • Oversee a team of case workers and support workers to deliver the CaFIS program.
  • Lead the ongoing development, coordination and facilitation of positive engagement, interventions, and activities in accordance with the CaFIS program guidelines and organisational policies and practices.
  • Participate in staff training and development, organisation-wide, site-based team meetings, collaborative planning activities and other meetings or activities relevant to this position.
  • Work with the Department of Children and Families in relation to reporting and mandated processes as required.
  • Foster a professional and culturally safe work environment through supportive management of the CaFIS program team and effective management of the CaFIS program portfolio.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems and processes, including work health and safety, to ensure programs and services meet professional and industry standards.
About youTo be successful in this role, you must be able to demonstrate knowledge of Aboriginal culture and deliver services in a culturally responsive manner. You must be able to create and maintain accurate reports and have experience working in Child and/or Family Services or similar. Previous experience within Remote Communities, specifically the Tennant Creek Region will be highly regarded but not essential.Essential skills and experience:
  • Tertiary level qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, Psychology, Education or related fields to sufficiently perform the key responsibilities of CaFIS Team Leader.
  • Experience working in Aboriginal community health or welfare services.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and manage a team effectively.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective community networks and relationships.
  • Well-developed communication skills
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
  • Demonstrated case management skills related to family and child work, and knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience in project and resource management, planning, coordination and implementation to meet agreed budgets, timelines and objectives.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications and client information management systems to support timely data collection, analysis and reports.
  • Ability to work independently with accountability and persistence.
Desirable:
  • Experience and knowledge of the Tennant Creek and Barkly Region.
  • Ability to speak a local language.
