The Wainui Feedlot and Farm is integral to our operations and plays a key part in our successfully integrated supply chain. Situated in Wainui (between Toowoomba and Dalby), our Farm is spread across 4600ha with 1254 ha of irrigation, where we grow and harvest corn, cotton, wheat, barley and sorghum crops.The role
Reporting to the General Manager – Intensive Production and Sales, the Farm Manager is a hands-on position leading a team of four delivering sustainable broad acre crop farming. The Farm Manager works closely with the Wainui feedlot team providing grains primarily to our feedlot operations. Responsible for the operations of the Wainui farm, you will ensure best practice farming management practises and optimise the performance of NAPCo’s farming enterprises; efficiently and sustainably.Day to day duties include:
  • Management of farm staff and/or contractors in collaboration with stakeholders ensuring business outcomes are met
  • Plan and deliver alternative cropping to meet business requirements sustainably and efficiently.
  • Prioritizing workloads and setting clear work expectations with the farm team
  • Property development planning and implementation
  • Managing water licences, communication with DNR regarding irrigation water and water harvesting
  • Providing sound, well informed strategic, policy, financial and operational advice to the General Manager and broader senior management team
  • Working closely with agronomist
  • Plan and conduct strategic research projects within approved budgets and timeframes.
  • Preparation of operation, capex and labour budgets
  • Budget monitoring and administration of financial performance for the farm management
  • Update and maintain Property Management Plans in order to maximize productivity while maintaining environmental assets, biodiversity and sustainability
  • Represent NAPCo on various industry associations or groups and maintain community relationships
  • Leading positive change and delivering sustainable, profitable growth
Ideally the successful candidate will have/be:
  • Minimum of 10 years experience farming, with 5 years management experience
  • Experience operating GPS enabled farming equipment
  • Experience in broad acre camera spraying and planting systems and flood and pivot irrigation systems
  • Intermediate Microsoft Suite Computer skills including Excel
  • HC/MC driver licence
The successful candidate will have strong business acumen with the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally driving development executing profitable, sustainable and efficient farming practices.Employee benefits
