-We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2026. Our new Business Plan is under development, and this is an exciting time to join our college team.Find out more about our school by visiting orThe RoleAs Education Assistant – Special Needs, you would work closely with teachers across a range of year levels and curriculum areas, supporting the delivery of educational programs that meet student needs and align with the college's strategic priorities. Under teacher direction, you would assist in implementing agreed programs and strategies that promote positive learning outcomes for all students.Suitable applicants will ideally have experience in working with high school students with special needs and in the development and delivery of supported educational programs. Under limited direction, Education Assistants apply evidence-based individualised programs that improve academic engagement, organisational skills, social thinking, peer relationships and self-regulation skills. - Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
