Employment Type: Full-time, Day ShiftSullivan Nicolaides Pathology are currently seeking a motivated and reliable Laboratory Assistant to join our Bowen Hills Microbiology Laboratory. This full-time day shift position plays a key role in supporting diagnostic services critical to patient care.About the RoleAs a Laboratory Assistant, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to assist with the preparation, processing, and support of clinical microbiology specimens. Shifts are between 6:00am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday. Once appropriately trained, participation in a weekend and public holiday roster will be required as part of a rotating schedule.Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and handle microbiology samples in accordance with established protocols.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform general laboratory housekeeping and complete associated administrative tasks.
- Support culture setup and plate preparation activities.
- Manage stock levels and prepare reagents as required.
- Data entry and sample tracking using the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Prior experience or knowledge of microbiology laboratory techniques (advantageous).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- The ability to prioritise tasks, work methodically and efficiently, and meet deadlines.
- Accuracy and attention to detail, even under time pressures.
- A proactive and flexible approach to changing work demands.
- Commitment to occupational health and safety standards.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on supporting scientific and clinical staff.
