Our client, a well-established business based in Brisbane, is seeking an Assistant Accountant on a 3-month contract with the potential to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate.This position is ideal for someone who can start immediately or on very short notice who is looking to broaden their accounting experience in a supportive, hands-on, commercial environment.The RoleReporting to the Finance lead, you’ll be involved in day-to-day finance operations and month-end processes, with scope to take on increasing responsibility as you grow in the role. Perfect for someone aiming to develop into a more well-rounded accounting professional.Key Responsibilities:

Assist with month-end preparation and journal entries
Reconcile bank accounts and key general ledger accounts
Support BAS preparation and other compliance reporting
Maintain and review the expense management system
Assist with fixed asset registers and reconciliations
Provide reporting support to the broader finance team
Liaise with internal teams and suppliers regarding procurement and payment queries
Contribute to process improvements across the finance function

About You:

Proven experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role, preferably within a multi-entity or complex organisation
Solid grasp of general ledger management, reconciliations, and month-end processes
Currently studying or recently completed an accounting qualification (CPA, CA, or relevant degree)
Comfortable using Excel and accounting software, with the ability to adapt to new systems quickly
Highly organised, self-motivated, and eager to take on new challenges
