Up to $101 per hour + Super - 35 hours per weekWe're looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Strategic Planner - Urbanist to join Canterbury Bankstown Council in the City Strategy & Design team. This is an opportunity to work on diverse and high-impact projects that shape the future of our city - from major rezonings and State Significant Developments to the creation of planning policies and strategies that improve liveability, sustainability, and design outcomes.In this role, you will:
- Lead the assessment of complex planning proposals and planning policy reviews.
- Negotiate Planning Agreements to secure the best outcomes for our community.
- Contribute to the preparation, implementation, and review of land use strategies, planning instruments, and urban design policy.
- Represent Council's interests on State infrastructure and development projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, manage specialist consultants, and engage with community and government stakeholders.
- Prepare high-quality reports and advice for Council and the Local Planning Panel.
- Tertiary qualifications in town planning, urban design, or a related discipline (essential).
- Proven track record in strategic planning, policy development, and complex assessment work.
- Strong understanding of planning legislation, State planning policies, and the plan-making process.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating agreements and achieving positive community outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build strong stakeholder relationships.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities.
