We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer | Water to join our growing team, focused on delivering high-quality mechanical engineering services across water and wastewater projects. This role will primarily involve supporting the design phase of projects for Sydney Water through our role as a design partner, however there will also be the opportunity to work on water infrastructure projects across the region. You will work closely with Senior Mechanical leads on projects and will collaborate with partners and clients to ensure successful delivery, while also contributing to the growth of the mechanical engineering discipline for the water sector at Arup.The Opportunity
- Support the design and delivery of mechanical components for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, with a focus on projects for Sydney Water.
- Collaborate with project teams and partners, contributing to the planning and execution of water supply, distribution, water and wastewater treatment systems.
- Contribute to the growth of the mechanical engineering discipline within the water sector through technical excellence and quality project delivery.
- Play an active role in developing proposals and bids, supporting business development activities.
- Ensure the accuracy and quality of work, providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Represent Arup’s water team at external meetings, and participate in the development of internal projects and activities.
- Participate in internal knowledge-sharing initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the team
- A recognised degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field), with relevant experience in the water sector.
- Membership of relevant professional institutions, with a focus on achieving chartership.
- Proven experience delivering concept and detailed designs for water-related projects in a consulting environment.
- Preferably achieve M1 or M2 competency status within Sydney Water’s Competency Requirements.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and engage with diverse stakeholders.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to tackle challenges, identify solutions, and contribute to business growth.
