This role is key to ensuring our scientific equipment is available, reliable, cost-effective, and compliant across diverse aquatic field operations. You'll drive improvements in planning, logistics, asset tracking, and cost models, supporting teams nationwide.Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will:
- Maintain and improve the scientific equipment register, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date records for tracking, usage, maintenance, and insurance purposes.
- Develop and manage systems for equipment standardisation across teams and regions.
- Coordinate the efficient logistics of shipping equipment to and from remote or aquatic field sites.
- Ensure timely dispatch and return of equipment, minimizing downtime and supporting smooth project execution.
- Work with commercial and finance teams to improve budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting related to equipment.
- Contribute to procurement decisions for new or replacement scientific equipment, based on technical knowledge, field requirements, and supplier capability.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and innovations in marine and aquatic monitoring to inform investment decisions.
- Experience managing complex scientific or technical assets, ideally in environmental consultancy or field-based research
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, especially when coordinating logistics to remote locations
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in using and managing asset tracking systems or equipment registers
- Financial literacy and experience developing cost models for equipment use or hire
