Eligibility: Open to EveryoneThe OpportunityWe have an opportunity for a Fisheries Management Officer (Recreational Response Initiatives) to be part of our Fisheries and Aquaculture Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.The Fisheries Management Officer (Recreational Response Initiatives) is to contribute to tangible outcomes and play a key role in PIRSA’s delivery of a range of initiatives to support recreational fishing with a particular focus on response to the algal bloom that has affected the State.South Australia is a national leader in the seafood industry with a strong export industry, a highly sustainable commercial fishing industry and the largest and most diverse aquaculture industry in the nation. The seafood industry has a gross food revenue estimate of $800m. Furthermore, recreational fishing contributes significantly to the well-being of many South Australians and is estimated to contribute $1 billion to the State, including direct and flow-on economic contributions.The sustainable development, management and conservation of the fisheries and aquaculture industries is governed by two Acts: the Aquaculture Act 2001 and the Fisheries Management Act 2007. The Fisheries and Aquaculture Division’s core business is the administration of these Acts. This includes being responsible for leading a collaborative approach with industry, other government departments, and with other PIRSA divisions to deliver a range of fisheries and aquaculture related services to government. Successful implementation depends on the ability to develop and coordinate integrated delivery mechanisms within the division and across a range of stakeholders, nationally and within the state.About UsSouth Australia is internationally recognised for the quality of its agriculture, food, and wine.   • Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
  • Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
  • Opportunity up to 12 months.
  • Full time, 37.5 hours per week.
Requirements
  • Possession of a current driver’s licence and willingness to drive.
  • Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
  • You actively participate in PIRSA’s Performance Management and Development Program.
  • You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations.
  • You undertake training and participation in emergency management activities as required.
  • The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.
