Foreman Position - Barwon Heads

• To assist Trainer & Assistant Trainer in running of our Barwon Heads thoroughbred racing stable.

• Key full-time position with Danny O’Brien Racing on a fortnightly roster.

• Assist daily operations of horse racing stable with Assistant Trainer

• Check feed leavers and horse welfare each morning
• Assist with morning’s work list being completed
• Direct fellow staff to achieve this
• Assist running of the Tie-ups area to ensure morning runs smoothly with Assistant Trainer
• Oversee post work care of horses – meet vet when required, daily treatments etc
• Oversee Cleanliness of Stable Complex
• Gain Truck Licence if possible
• Co-ordinate full-time, part-time, riding and casual staff under the guidance of Assistant Trainer
• Ensure Feed Regime of horses in training is being followed with Assistant Trainer
• Manage Racing Bag – including Gear, Papers and Colours
• Represent Stable at race meetings and liaise with Jockeys, Owners, Staff and Media on occasion
• Ensure detailed records are kept on each horse – Ardex, GPS, Vet Book, OH&S with Assistant Trainer
• Co-ordinate Stable’s Work Safe Program & Employer Obligations with Assistant Trainer
• Liaise with external suppliers including Vet, Farriers, Feed Companies when required
• Work with the Trainer, General Manager and Assistant Trainer to service Owners when required
• Any other tasks as directed by Trainer, General Manager & Assistant Trainer
