Located in Somersby on the Central Coast, our site is gearing up for a significant phase of growth with a major shutdown planned later this year and exciting capital projects on the horizon.We're currently seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead our day shift team of trades and support the Maintenance Manager in delivering operational excellence across site maintenance, contractor engagement, and continuous improvement.The OpportunityAs Maintenance Superintendent, you'll take on a critical leadership role responsible for the day-to-day supervision of 18 trade staff (10 mechanical, 8 electrical) and contractors. Your goal? Drive maintenance performance, minimise downtime, and support safe, efficient plant operations.This is a frontline leadership role working day shift that combines people management, technical support, and strategic planning. If you're someone who thrives on team development, improving systems, and ensuring compliance — we want to hear from you.Key Responsibilities:Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this hands-on leadership role will see you:
  • Lead and support a day shift maintenance crew across mechanical and electrical disciplines
  • Schedule and oversee maintenance activities including major shutdowns
  • Drive team accountability for safety, attendance, training, and performance
  • Troubleshoot plant and equipment issues to identify and resolve root causes
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers, including managing service contracts and purchasing
  • Support and contribute to capital works, lean initiatives, and continuous improvement
  • Manage and track maintenance activities using SAP or other CMMS platforms
  • Ensure compliance with WHSE standards and permit-to-work systems
About youYou're a strong and supportive leader with a passion for getting the best from your team.
  • Mechanical or Electrical trade qualifications (fitter, boilermaker, etc.) – engineering degree highly regarded
  • Previous experience in a maintenance leadership role, supervising trade teams, ideally within heavy industry or manufacturing
  • Strong technical understanding of rotating equipment and mechanical systems
  • Previous background in preventive and reliability-based maintenance practices
  • Experience with CMMS systems (SAP preferred), planning/scheduling, and contractor management
  • A proactive, safety-first mindset with solid fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively
