The Team:The Close Observation Unit (COU) at the Mersey Community Hospital is a 6 bed Level 2 COU, providing level 2 Critical care and High Acuity services to the North west region of Tasmania.COU fosters a strong staff culture built on teamwork and a commitment to exceptional patient care. Upholding the organization's core values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.The Role:Under the general supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), the Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) and/or the Department Manager, the Hospital Aides will:
  • Plan and prioritise daily workload to ensure readiness of beds and bed space for new admissions.
  • Maintain ward stock on a daily basis to ensure smooth running of ward area in accordance with existing procedures.
  • Follow cleaning standards, infection control standards, policies and protocols in accordance with hospital requirements.
  • Report unsafe practices or acts that may endanger occupants/visitors to the hospital.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Champion a child safe culture that upholds the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. Note: - Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position to address in your application.Details of appointment:Permanent, part time, shift worker position, working up to 36 hours per fortnight, commencing from 14 September 2025.*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar part time and casual vacancies.Salary: $57,130 to $62,486 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
