- Associate degree or equivalent certification in Laboratory Technology, Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in a laboratory or construction materials testing role.
- Familiarity with relevant laboratory equipment and testing methods.
- C Class Driver's Licence
- White Card
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a laboratory role within the construction industry, preferably in tunnelling projects.
- Proficiency in conducting tests on construction materials such as soil, concrete, shotcrete and rock.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols.
- Expertise in conducting various laboratory tests on construction materials, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
- Familiarity with and ability to operate laboratory testing equipment.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and NATA requirements related to laboratory testing, reporting and documentation

- Exceptional knowledge and ability in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Conduct laboratory tests on construction materials, including soil, concrete, shotcrete and rock, in accordance with project specifications and standards as well as NATA requirements.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Operate and maintain laboratory testing equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Accurately record and report test results, maintaining comprehensive documentation of laboratory activities.
- Adhere to and promote laboratory safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Identify and address challenges related to laboratory testing, providing effective solutions.
- Effectively communicate test results and findings to project teams, engineers and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with construction crews, project managers, and other laboratory technicians to ensure seamless integration of testing processes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in laboratory testing procedures.
