Senior Machine Learning Scientist

This isn't just a senior ML role. It's an opportunity to:
- Architect a greenfield ML system. No legacy code or prebuilt pipelines
- Design, train, and test neural networks optimised for edge
- Solve real-world problems using noisy, sensor-derived data (not just ImageNet)
- Work on a product that blends AI, hardware, and impact
- Help shape the roadmap with the founding team
Their current system is a proof of concept. It works, but it won't scale. They need someone who can come in and rethink the entire AI architecture, working from first principles to build something elegant, efficient, and production-ready.You'll be the go-to ML expert, collaborating closely with embedded engineers, product leaders, and the executive team.Skills & Experience
- Strong experience building and training custom deep learning models (ideally CNNs for vision)
- Proficiency in Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Comfort designing for embedded and edge environments (Jetson, Movidius, NPU etc.)
- Bonus: Experience with thermal, IR, or non-RGB sensors
- A background in R&D, early-stage tech, or product innovation
- An appetite for ambiguity, autonomy, and building something that actually ships
- Must be an Australian Citizen.
