As a member of the Swan Christian Education Association (SCEA), MCC is dedicated to fostering a strong sense of belonging, hospitality, and academic excellence grounded in Christian values.We are seeking a committed and skilled Material Design and Technology (MDT) and Art Technician to support our teaching team during Term 4 of 2025 on a part-time three days a week, fixed-term capacity. This role is ideal for someone with a practical skillset in woodwork and metalwork, an understanding of safe workshop practices, and a heart for supporting education in a Christian context.The successful applicant will assist in preparing materials for class projects, maintaining tools and equipment, managing stock, and ensuring workshop safety compliance. In addition, you will occasionally support student projects and assist the Art Department as needed. This position plays a key behind-the-scenes role in ensuring the effective delivery of the Design and Technology curriculum.As the MDT and Art Technician, you will:
- Prepare and organise tools, materials, and equipment for student use.
- Ensure the workshop is clean, organised, and compliant with OHS standards.
- Maintain and repair machinery and liaise with external service providers as required.
- Monitor and manage stock levels, including ordering materials.
- Maintain accurate Materials Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Assist teachers with class preparation and set-up, including cutting materials.
- Occasionally assist with student project work under teacher supervision.
- Provide support to the Art Department where needed.
- Demonstrated commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and active membership in a Christian church.
- Alignment with SCEA’s Statement of Faith, Foundational Beliefs, and educational philosophy.
- Competency in operating woodwork and metalwork machinery.
- Strong attention to detail in material preparation and equipment maintenance.
- Manual driver’s licence.
- Proficiency in standard computer programs (e.g., OneNote, Excel, Word).
- Hold or be eligible for a current Working with Children Check and police clearance.
- Proficiency in Fusion 360 and AutoCAD (2D & 3D drawing programs).
- Understanding of the Design and Technology curriculum and school workshop environments.
- Prior experience working in a school setting or technical environment.
