You will conduct laboratory analysis in the Hazardous Materials laboratory, including asbestos identification in building materials and soils, and airborne fibre counting. In addition, you will assist the laboratory team by ensuring all samples are prepared and analysed in a timely manner, while supporting a range of laboratory duties to meet operational, customer, and quality requirements.Key responsibilities:Prepare samples for analysis in accordance with approved methods and requirements.Perform routine analyses, validations, and project work efficiently and accurately.Conduct analyses including:Respirable fibre countingAsbestos identification in building materials and soilsInhalable and respirable dust (and associated airborne workplace contaminants)Diesel particulate analysisCarry out field sampling activities such as:Airborne fibre monitoringRespirable dust and crystalline silica monitoringInhalable dust monitoringEnsure all internal and external client requirements are met or exceeded.Ensure efficient utilisation of laboratory materials.Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment/instruments as required.Maintain strict adherence to ISO 17025, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.QualificationsCertificate or Diploma in Laboratory Techniques, or other relevant science-based tertiary education; or significant field/laboratory experience.Experience in a commercial laboratory, including analysis of asbestos in building materials and soils.Experience with field work and associated record keeping will be an advantage.Previous experience as an ICP or LAA for clearance inspections following asbestos removal work will be highly regarded.Skills and Attributes:Proven ability to learn quickly and work effectively under minimal supervision.Excellent communication skills with the ability to structure information clearly, logically, and directly.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi-task.Sound technical and analytical skills.Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.A current Australian driver's licence (preferred).Previous laboratory experience will be well regarded; however, comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided in our in-house analytical techniques, systems, and programs.Additional InformationWe will be reviewing applications as they are received, so if you believe you are ready for this exciting, challenging and rewarding position please apply as soon as possible by submitting your cover letter and resume that outlines your interest and suitability for the position.This opportunity is only open to candidates who are eligible to work in Australia/New Zealand, and already have work rights or an appropriate working visa.
