The Department of Education’s Risk and Assurance Directorate is seeking a proactive and solutions-focused risk professional with strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.The Department of Education’s strategic plan outlines the commitment for every child to enjoy a high quality of education. This is an education underpinned by excellence in teaching, quality leadership and pathways from Kindergarten to Year 12 to meet the needs of the learner in preparing them to take the next step into the world of work or further education.The Professional Standards and Conduct Division is responsible for the delivery of a range of integrated functions and oversees Standards and Integrity Directorate, Risk and Assurance Directorate, Legal and Legislative Services Directorate, Parent Liaison Office and the Screening Unit.The Risk and Assurance Directorate delivers high-level audit and risk management expertise with an emphasis on a quality audit and risk management program that addresses organisational accountability and supports a broad client need across the Department. The Directorate’s services include:
  • provide assurance to the Director General and the Audit and Risk Committee that the Department's financial and operational controls are operating in an efficient, effective, economical and ethical manner
  • assist management in improving the Department's business performance
  • provide a risk advisory function with its focus on assisting staff to manage risks effectively
  • undertake a governance function for the Department’s externally available policies and delegations.
The RoleAs Senior Consultant – Risk, you will play a key role in supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Department’s risk management and business continuity frameworks. Reporting to the Manager, Risk and Policy Governance, you will contribute to building organisational resilience by developing risk assessment programs, analysing business processes, and supporting the maintenance of enterprise-level risk and continuity documentation.You will be responsible for undertaking research and data analysis on risk practices, contribute to the development of risk assessment programs, and providing operational input into the review of control strategies and accountability mechanisms. A key part of your role will be engaging with business areas across the Department to deliver targeted training, guidance, and resources that build local capability in managing operational risks and business continuity.This role requires a proactive and solutions-focused risk professional with strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
