This is a unique opportunity to drive a major risk uplift program for a Federal Government agency, directly contributing to the organisation’s ability to manage risk with confidence and transparency. As Senior Risk Consultant, you’ll be responsible for delivering a suite of high-impact risk deliverables, working closely with executives, governance committees, and internal teams to embed lasting value and measurable outcomes.Key Responsibilities
- Lead a comprehensive risk maturity assessment and deliver a detailed report
- Review and update the Risk Management Framework and Policy to align with ISO 31000 and Commonwealth standards
- Develop and deliver a two-year Risk Uplift Strategy and Roadmap
- Refresh enterprise-level risks and ensure risk registers reflect current priorities
- Design and implement fit-for-purpose risk tools, templates, and guidance materials
- Facilitate risk workshops, provide training, and transfer knowledge to build internal capability
- Prepare and present risk management papers for executive and governance committees
- Provide recommendations on resourcing and workforce planning to ensure long-term sustainability
Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in risk management, business, governance, or related discipline
- Extensive experience in risk uplift projects within government or large, complex organisations
- Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 31000 and the Commonwealth Risk Management Policy
- Strong capability in stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and governance reporting
- Proven experience in developing and embedding risk management frameworks and tools
- Demonstrated cultural capability, particularly working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Professional certification in risk management or governance (e.g., RMIA, PRMIA, GRC)
- Previous experience leading risk transformations in Federal Government agencies
