- Managing medical negligence litigation as part of a team including attending formal mediations and informal settlement conferences
- Managing Coronial inquiries and disciplinary proceedings as against health entities and individual practitioners
- Providing advice to insurers on cover, predominantly professional indemnity and medical indemnity insurance
- Reviewing medical and health records
- Preparing briefs for Counsel and expert witnesses
- Drafting court documents, settlement deeds and Medical Panel referrals
- Preparing advice including on indemnity, liability, prospects, quantum, reserves and strategy
- Researching and providing legal analysis
- Assisting with preparation and presenting on matters related to medical indemnity and health law litigation.
- Coaching and mentoring junior lawyers, graduates and seasonal clerks
- Retaining and building business
- Suitable candidates will bring 3+ years PAE in medical or health law litigation
- Tertiary qualification in Law and a current Practising Certificate for relevant jurisdiction
- The role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as effective stakeholder management abilities
- Suitable candidates should demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain professional relationships, leading to effective client service and successful outcomes
- Strong critical reasoning and investigative skills with the ability to think laterally
- Highly organised, able to plan and prioritise work to meet key deliverables
- Demonstrate proficiency in conducting presentations and meetings with groups of varying sizes
- Identifies risks and complies with group risk management protocol
- A willingness and ability to learn and develop new skills
- The ability to resolve problems and determine when escalation is necessary
