Zoos Victoria operates four landmark zoos, Healesville Sanctuary, Kyabram Fauna Park, Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo. Every person, from the extensive range of disciplines, plays an important role in helping the organisation realise its vision to become a world leading zoo-based conservation organisation.This role is responsible for the delivery of excellent cleaning services. This includes scheduled and unplanned cleaning services of public areas e.g., toilets, function room and staff areas such as offices, staff room and toilets.We are looking for 2 or 3 Cleaners, who can work 4-hour shifts across 6 days (Mon to Sat) between them but also be available to work additional hours when the other person(s) is unavailable. We have a degree of flexibility regarding shift hours e.g., 9am to 1pm, 9.30am to 1.30pm or 1pm to 5pm, depending on the candidate and their experience.Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out all cleaning requirements of offices, catering areas, outdoor facilities, toilets and grounds.
  • Ensure appropriate, professional response through corrective actions or reporting any irregularities, breakages or issues eg blocked toilets, broken or vandalised equipment.
  • Ensure all facilities are maintained in accordance with the Schedule.
  • Set, maintain and improve standards of presentation and hygiene.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and procedures to minimise workplace risk and maximise efficiency.
  • Identify and act in accordance with Zoo procedures on safety issues.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Demonstrable industrial cleaning experience.
  • Experience in a customer service environment.
  • Demonstrable ability to consider and implement hygienic work practices.
  • Ability to work autonomously and also be a successful team member.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and listening).
  • Good IT skills eg emails, ability to research products/SDSs.
