It offers an opportunity to apply your engineering expertise in a distinctive field and contribute to our efforts in aiding the global transition to renewable energy.In this role, you'll be tasked with designing safety-critical software, a key component in our commitment to reliability and robustness. You'll play a pivotal role in enhancing our development processes and prioritizing rigorous testing to ensure top-tier software quality. Working closely with hardware, you'll help bridge the gap between digital and physical components, contributing significantly to the iterative maturation of our products from conception to market readiness.Reporting to the Software Manager, some of the specific tasks of the role include:
  • Designing and developing embedded software using C, C++, and Rust
  • Testing and debugging hardware components
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive software tests at multiple levels (unit, integration, system)
  • Optimizing system architectures to improve system efficiency, performance, and scalability
  • Creating detailed design documentation and supporting knowledge transfer and future maintenance.
RequirementsEssential Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent and 3+ years applicable workplace experience;
  • You are proficient in C, C++ and/or Rust
  • You have deep knowledge of MCU architectures, peripherals, and development environments
  • You are strong in electrical and electronics fundamentals
  • You are comfortable with reading electrical schematics and datasheets
  • You have deep knowledge of the embedded toolchains and workflow
  • You are skilled in electronics debugging with lab equipment
  • You are passionate about engineering and can share evidence of this via a personal project or public git repo
Highly Desirable:
  • Experience with power electronics and battery energy storage systems
  • Experience with linux environment
  • Experience with embedded stacks for ARM cores
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages
  • Experience with safety-critical systems
  • Experience with test-driven development
  • Experience with continuous integration, build, deployment & monitoring
  • Demonstrable people or project leadership experience
