The OrganisationThis regional health service forms part of the largest country health service in Australia. This health service provides hospital, community health, public health, remote area health, community aged care, and mental health services to an area of 507,896 sq km. The region has approximately 200 Aboriginal communities, and over 34 different Aboriginal language groups and 45 percent of the population are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.The health service comprises six hospitals, an inpatient mental health unit, three Community Directorates and a Corporate Office. The Mental Health and Drug Service provides specialist community mental health and alcohol and drug services and acute inpatient psychiatric care for referred patients in the region
The Job
  • As Clinical Director of Psychiatry, you will shape the future of inpatient services and contribute to innovative solutions that enhance patient experience
  • You will connect with hospitals and adult community mental health services across the region with the opportunity to profoundly impact mental healthcare delivery
  • You will develop formal links with primary care providers, particularly general practitioners, to promote continuity of treatment, and shared care management and provide ongoing education about psychiatric disorders and the provision of professional support
  • Clinical responsibilities will include undertaking comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients that ensures best practice clinical interventions are provided
  • You will provide supervision and training to Registrars and other medical officers

Requirements
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or equivalent
