All whilst making your mark on the future.About this part of our organisation:As part of the Global group, our Zinc Assets include multiple & geographically dispersed operations, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants, refineries, smelters and port facilities. Our operations span across Australia, Asia, both North and South American continents and Europe. The majority of our Zinc and Copper assets are based in Mount Isa and whilst our preference is for residential (as this is mentoring role so it is important to be near the team) we may consider a Fly-In/Fly-out (FIFO) roster in certain circumstances.Your new RoleGlencore is seeking a Senior Data Applications Engineer for our George Fisher Mine Operations. Reporting to the Superintendent of Operations Technology, this role is about using data-driven solutions to improve Mount Isa Mine operations in safe, cost-effective ways. You’ll find new opportunities to add value and deliver continuous improvements.Some of your exciting key responsibilities include:
  • Being responsible for full software development lifecycle from design to deployment.
  • Training and mentoring other engineers.
  • Engaging key stakeholders to obtain organisational commitments on technology roadmaps.
  • Leading provisioning of current and future focused operational technology software solutions on-premises or as a cloud service.
  • Business partnering with local, regional, and global Information Systems and Technology.
  • Utilising project management frameworks to ensure project support, operational readiness, and change management.
  • Creating business requirements documents and mapping to technical requirements.
  • Documenting and maintain business processes across vendor and in-house applications to ensure business continuity including as-built documentation, test plans, end-user guides etc.
  • Vendor management.
  • Develop business cases for initiatives, approval, funding, and prioritisation.
  • Budget Planning, forecasting and CAPEX / OPEX cost centre management.
Some of the skills, experiences and qualifications you will likely have include:(please note, even if you have some of these but not all, still consider applying)
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science / Information Technology / Software engineering
  • Several years’ experience in coordinating delivery of software implementation projects in complex multi-disciplinary setting, including architectural design, build, test, deployment.
  • Knowledge and experience of software development lifecycle, design patterns and principles using Microsoft technologies: Asp.net Core, Microsoft SQL Server, Power Platform, GitHub.
  • A solid proficiency in data structures and algorithms. Fluent in front/back-end programming languages: SQL, C#, Javascript, Html, CSS, Python.
  • Understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing, ETL (Microsoft Power BI, SSAS/SSRS/SSIS, Azure Cloud Services.).
  • Proficient in diagnosing issues, articulating solutions, and maintaining thorough records.
  • Knowledge and experience with enterprise software applications, operational technology network topologies.
  • Experience supervising and developing a team of junior software engineers.
  • Ability to work across teams and departments, increasing engagement through multiple tiers of the workforce, including ability to break down complex systems into key components and communicate those to non-technical staff in clear and concise manner.
  • Experience in resources sector, Fleet/Mine production management systems, grade reconciliation systems would be welcome but not essential.
