What we need from you
  • Tertiary qualification in Civil, Mechanical, or Hydraulic Engineering (essential).
  • Detailed knowledge of hydraulic engineering procedures and practices in the water industry.
  • Proven experience in investigation, concept, and detailed design of hydraulic infrastructure, and in auditing designs prepared by others.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute complex and critical engineering investigations in the hydraulic discipline.
  • Experience developing and reviewing technical and infrastructure standards.
RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior Hydraulic Engineer to provide high-level technical support across the organisation, ensuring our water and wastewater infrastructure meets best-practice engineering standards. This role involves delivering expert investigation, design review, technical governance, and advisory services, while embedding safety, compliance, and innovation in every aspect of work. You will collaborate with internal teams, technical partners, and external suppliers to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective engineering solutions that align with technical standards.Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise in hydraulic engineering matters across all stages of the asset lifecycle.
  • Lead and support Safety in Design processes, ensuring WHS risks are eliminated or minimised.
  • Review, develop, and maintain technical standards and guidelines for hydraulic engineering.
  • Liaise with engineering consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of projects.
  • Undertake investigations, audits, and design reviews, ensuring compliance with corporate and legal obligations.
  • Keep up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support operational and maintenance strategies, including training and knowledge-sharing activities.
What You'll Need
  • Essential tertiary qualification in Civil, Mechanical, or Hydraulic Engineering.
  • Detailed knowledge of hydraulic engineering in the water industry.
  • Proven design, investigation, and auditing experience in complex infrastructure projects.
  • Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
