Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 + superannuation

About the Business

Studio Coffee is a vibrant all-day dining venue located in the heart of Melbourne’s South Wharf. Our premises are independent and separate from any shopping centre, and we are not a fast-food outlet, limited-service restaurant, or shopping-centre café. We offer a full table-service experience, supported by a curated food and beverage menu.

Our kitchen prepares dishes entirely from raw ingredients, with a focus on quality, presentation, and customisation to meet customer needs. Our dining concept supports a wide variety of patrons including business clients, event guests, and local food lovers who value flavour-forward, chef-led meals.

About the Role

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Full-Time Chef to join our team. This role is suited to someone with a passion for food, strong leadership in the kitchen, and the ability to thrive in a busy, full-service environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organise, and supervise food preparation and cooking operations in a professional kitchen.
  • Examine food quality, including raw and cooked items, to ensure standards are met.
  • Prepare and cook menu items from raw ingredients, including breakfast, lunch, and brunch dishes, as per restaurant recipes and presentation standards.
  • Design, adjust, and implement menus, considering seasonal produce, customer feedback, and dietary requirements.
  • Monitor portion sizes, food costs, and ensure consistency across dishes and service times.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen team members, including junior cooks and kitchen hands.
  • Manage stock levels and ordering to ensure freshness, minimise waste, and maintain budget targets.
  • Enforce food safety, hygiene, and occupational health standards, ensuring compliance with HACCP and council regulations.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house and management to deliver timely, high-quality service and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist with rostering, budgeting, and kitchen operational planning as required.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher (or equivalent international qualification).
  • At least 1 year of relevant, full-time commercial kitchen experience.
  • Strong knowledge of modern Australian café and restaurant cuisine, including dietary adjustments and menu innovation.
  • Proven ability to manage a fast-paced kitchen and maintain high food and presentation standards.
  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or hold a valid visa with full, unrestricted work rights.

Applications open on 15 August 2025 and close on 14 September 2025.
