Duties

• Surface Preparation:

Prepare interior and exterior surfaces by removing old paint, filling cracks and holes, sanding, cleaning, and sealing to ensure smooth and durable paint application.

• Painting and Finishing:

Apply paints, primers, sealers, and finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray guns to achieve desired colour, texture, and protection—both for general and industrial painting projects.

• Protective Coating Application:

Use weather-resistant and heavy-duty coatings for outdoor or high-traffic surfaces to ensure long-term durability and structural protection.

• Colour Matching and Mixing:

Mix and match paint colours and finishes to meet client specifications and maintain consistency across large-scale surfaces such as commercial buildings and warehouses.

• Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

Operate and maintain tools and equipment like spray guns, scaffolding, and pressure washers. Keep tools clean and in good working condition.

• Team Coordination:

Work closely with supervisors, project managers, and other tradespeople to meet deadlines and deliver quality results on time.

• Quality Control and Inspection:

Conduct regular inspections throughout and after completion of work to ensure painted surfaces meet professional and client standards.

• Safety and Compliance:

Follow all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines, especially when working at heights or with hazardous materials. Set up safety barriers, wear PPE, and ensure safe work practices.

• Minor Repairs and Maintenance:

Perform touch-ups and minor repairs including patching, caulking, sealing, and maintenance of surfaces to prevent water damage or surface deterioration.

• Problem Solving on Site:

Address any unexpected issues such as damaged surfaces, last-minute design changes, or environmental challenges with practical solutions.

Required Skills

• Cert III in painting and decorating
• Minimum 2 years of work experience
• High attention to detail
