About the Role
As a Residential Care Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting older adults to live with dignity, comfort and choice. You’ll deliver compassionate, person-centred care in a welcoming community, working alongside a dedicated team that truly values respect, inclusion and quality of life.
DUTIES:
- Keep resident documentation accurate and current, including daily notes, care assessments, and care plans.
- Monitor and record any changes in residents’ needs, promptly reporting concerns.
- Make residents’ beds and ensure fresh, clean linen is always available.
- Keep residents’ clothing stored neatly and organised.
- Correctly return laundered clothing to the appropriate residents’ rooms.
- Assist with meal service, supporting residents during mealtimes as needed.
- Help deliver specialised nursing care under supervision, following individual care plans.
- Provide consistently high standards of care and support to all residents.
- Encourage residents’ independence by assisting with personal care respectfully and in line with their care plan.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, residents, families, GPs, and allied health professionals to ensure prompt, courteous service.
- Uphold residents’ rights to privacy, confidentiality, choice, and decision-making always.
- Offer emotional support and companionship to residents.
- Engage proactively and cooperatively as part of the wider care team.
- Build and nurture positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Support compliance with the Aged Care Standards and company policies.
- Remain adaptable and responsive to organisational needs and changes.
- Attend team meetings, training sessions, and mandatory education programs.
- Identify personal training needs and take part in ongoing learning.
- Contribute to workplace safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Recognise and report potential risks or complaints relevant to the role.
- Follow all Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) policies and safe work practices.
- Take responsibility for maintaining a safe environment for yourself, your team, and residents.
- Adhere to all relevant legislation and workplace requirements.
- Demonstrate and promote Equal Employment Opportunity principles, ensuring a respectful, harassment-free workplace.
- Follow and champion all organisational policies and procedures.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Up-to-date annual flu vaccination and full COVID-19 immunisation.
- Signed statutory declaration disclosing any serious overseas criminal history.
- Minimum 1-year relevant, full-time experience.
- Diploma/relevant qualification.
- Satisfactory police check.
- Valid driver’s licence and own transport.
- Team player with a genuine commitment to long-term employment.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (within 5 years) Preferable.
