We are hiring Small Engine Mechanics to join our team.
The Small Engine Mechanic reports to the Workshop Manager, Store Manager and company Directors.
The Small Engine Mechanic will be required to:
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs and servicing of small engine power tools, all terrain vehicles, motorcycles, marine engines and various other small engine equipment;
- Detect and diagnose faults in engines/equipment;
- Dismantle and reassemble engines/equipment as required for servicing and repair;
- Testing equipment after servicing and repair;
- Assisting customers in relation to engines/equipment and purchasing of the required parts;
- Sorting and storing of related parts and inventory;
This engines/equipment will include:
- Chainsaws
- Zero turn mowers
- Ride on mowers
- Push mowers
- Polaris ATV
- Various Motorcycles
- Various Garden Power equipment
- Generators
- Battery powered yard tools
The role requires a degree of autonomy, organization, and attention to detail. Management also expect the SEM to follow procedures and processes carefully with the objective to maintain tight control of scheduling to meet reasonable turnaround times and customer expectations.
The SEM will be expected to obtain and maintain required certification and equipment compliance to meet various machinery brand’s training standards and regulation.
Pre-Delivery & product assembly will be an important role for the SEM. Management expects vehicles to be delivered in excellent condition mechanically and in accordance with manufacturers guidelines were practical. Machinery should be clean and presented with all necessary paperwork and accessories provided.
Complete all job documentation to a standard ready for handover to administration and front counter staff.
Additional work responsibilities would include:
- Ensure high levels of customers satisfaction through excellent service
- Maintain a clean and tidy workshop, inventory storage area and external outdoor area.
- Manage and schedule daily activities according to customer requirements.
- Maintain strict disciplines in servicing timeframes, workflow, and quality standards.
- Order parts, sundries and consumables directly as necessary to complete specific jobs and maintain adequate levels in the workshop. Work with the Store Manager to assess and set minimum inventory qty’s for parts used on a regular basis.
- Manage and store good’s receivables.
- Maintain technical compliance levels personally and assist staff members to meet supplier and company requirements.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and meet manufacturer’s requirements in the pre-delivery and handover of new vehicles.
- Provide accurate and complete paperwork to administration / front counter ready for invoicing and delivery of jobs.
