Exciting Opportunity: 2026 Surgical Registrar (Non-Accredited)Are you ready to elevate your medical career in a dynamic and supportive environment? We are seeking a dedicated Surgical Registrar to join our Surgical Services Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in managing the care of patients, collaborating with Registrars, Consultants, Visiting Specialists, Nurses, and Allied Health professionals.Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care Management: Oversee and manage the care of patients presenting to the Surgical Services Department. Ensure effective and accurate clinical handovers during shift changes and patient admissions.
  • Consultation and Escalation: Appropriately escalate doubts or concerns to the Consultant, ensuring patient safety and care quality.
  • Discharge Planning: Initiate discharge planning early, crafting precise discharge summaries and coordinating follow-up with patients' regular carers and General Practitioners.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain high-quality, accessible records of patient care through meticulous completion of Electronic Medical Records.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively engage in Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives and contribute to education activities, including participation in the Surgical Services Department's professional development, research, and teaching programs.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Educational Background: You will hold a Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent, and be registrable as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Postgraduate Experience: Demonstrated postgraduate experience in medical care, with competency in routine and common procedural ward-based skills.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently and appropriately with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Teamwork and Problem Solving: Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently, showcasing strong problem-solving and decision-making skills at clinical and individual levels.
