  • Lead data discovery engagements and maturity assessments to uncover systemic challenges such as low data quality, legacy complexity, poor ownership, and governance breakdowns.
  • Translate ambiguous client challenges into structured data strategies and actionable roadmaps.
  • Architect data operating models and data governance frameworks to instill ownership, accountability, and regulatory alignment.
  • Design and oversee end-to-end data transformations, including ingestion, cleansing, modelling, and analytics enablement.
  • Provide solution direction across Azure, AWS and Databricks platforms, leveraging modern toolchains (e.g. dbt, Delta Lake, Fabric) to build scalable, governed pipelines.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business and IT leaders, guiding decision-making on platform adoption, team structure, and data enablement priorities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams-data engineers, architects, analysts, and business SMEs-to deliver value-focused outcomes.
  • Promote data stewardship, quality control, metadata management, and best practices across delivery engagements.
  • Support change management initiatives through coaching, stakeholder engagement, and capability uplift.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in data consulting, architecture, or engineering roles with demonstrable project delivery in large, complex organisations.
  • Deep knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM) and practical experience implementing ownership, stewardship, and data quality models.
  • Strong proficiency in data modelling, transformation design (ETL/ELT), and platform engineering across cloud-native environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Proven experience delivering solutions on Azure, Databricks, or Snowflake, including orchestration, observability, and governance integration.
  • Proficient in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience using data engineering tools such as dbt, Spark, Fabric, or Synapse.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead client workshops, navigate ambiguity, and provide structure to complex data initiatives.
  • Comfortable working across stakeholders, from data engineers to executives, with strong communication and storytelling skills.
  • Experience in regulated industries or asset-intensive sectors (e.g. energy, resources, mining) is highly valued.
  • Relevant certifications in Azure, AWS, GCP and Databricks, or data governance frameworks are desirable.
