Our high-performing team of passionate and talented individuals works collaboratively to deliver great outcomes for our clients.You will be joining an organisation that is very involved in ensuring that Victoria’s children and young people with disabilities and additional needs receive the inclusion support they need to participate in their education on the same basis as their peers.About the roleThe KIS program provides additional funding to government-funded Victorian kindergartens to support the access and participation of children with disability or developmental delay and high support needs. Kindergartens can apply for additional support under one of the following programs:
  • Kindergarten Inclusion Support Program – Disability
  • Kindergarten Inclusion Support Program – Complex Medical Needs.
The casual assessor is responsible for assessing applications from kindergarten services as per guidelines set by the Department of Education (DE) and determining the support to be provided to kindergartens.Most applications are received during Terms 1 and 4 of each year. As such, casual assessors must be able to flex their availability to respond to periods of peak application demand (Terms 1 & 4), however, may also be required less frequently at other times of the year.As a casual assessor you will:
  • Conduct high-quality assessments in accordance with program guidelines and DE contract
  • Work in collaboration with their team leader as well as other assessors to ensure consistency and quality of assessments
  • Ensure assessments are completed in a timely fashion to achieve program objectives and support service level monitoring and reporting against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and to ensure required outcomes and performance measures are met
  • Work collaboratively to identify opportunities for service development and quality improvement
  • Participate in regular supervision, professional support, and guidance as provided by the KIS assessment team leader
  • Attend regular training and practice development events as required, including attending in person
Qualifications & experience:
  • Bachelor of Early Childhood Education
  • Eligibility for registration with VIT
  • 5+ years of experience working in/with early childhood education services
Skills:
  • Detailed knowledge of child development, developmental delay and disabilities
  • Understanding of a strengths-based approach to inclusion
  • Detailed knowledge of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework
  • Excellent attention to detail combined with an ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to exercise sound and rapid decision-making
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Intermediate computer skills
On offer:
  • Very attractive hourly rate $90.77/hour + 12% superannuation
  • Casual role working peak periods during Terms 1 & 4 each year and other times as required
  • Hybrid working model – work from home and the office
