About the roleThe SAMI consultant radiologist is responsible to the site's Campus Clinical Head for delivering Medical Imaging services of the highest possible standard to SAMI patients both in terms of individual performance and by contributing to multi-disciplinary approach to the delivery of patient care, teaching, and research. The incumbent is required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical and academic team.Specifically, this position is primarily responsible for assisting in the provision of general Medical Imaging services at Flinders Medical Centre. Responsibilities of the incumbent include:
  • Provision of professional leadership to clinical staff and supervision of teaching of radiology trainees, other staff and medical students.
  • Active support and participation in quality improvement and quality assurance activities to ensure safe, appropriate, effective and efficient patient-centred care processes.
  • Representing SAMI at campus meetings and liaising with clinicians regarding service provision (for example at hospital clinico-radiology / multidisciplinary team meetings and management team meetings). It is expected that the incumbent will likely take responsibility for a least one clinico-radiology / multidisciplinary meeting per week.
  • A duty to support and encourage team cooperation amongst staff to optimise the level and diagnostic accuracy of the service provided.
At the request of the Campus Clinical Head, the incumbent may be required to deliver Medical Imaging services at a variety of SAMI locations.About YouYou are a dedicated medical professional with the qualifications, experience, and leadership skills to deliver high-quality clinical services while contributing to teaching, research, and multidisciplinary collaboration. You are committed to patient-centred care and bring strong communication, problem-solving, and supervisory abilities to the role.Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia as either (a) a Radiologist or (b) an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with Certification in Obstetrical and Gynaecological Ultrasound (COGU) from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) or equivalent.Strong communicator and role model with the ability to teach, mentor, and supervise medical students, trainees, and junior staff.Demonstrated experience in clinical governance, quality improvement, and a commitment to research and continuing professional education.Skilled in leadership, conflict resolution, and decision making, with a commitment to safety, ethical conduct, and collaborative team-based care.About usStatewide Clinical Support Services (SCSS) is a unique public healthcare organisation that serves health consumers and provides specialist clinical services to the health system in South Australia.
