The Organisation
You will be working at a 172-bed Level 1 tertiary teaching hospital that services approximately 80,000 people. The hospital provides a range of acute services in emergency, maternity, intensive care, rehabilitation, community services, psychiatric in and out patient care, palliative care, renal dialysis and chemotherapy services. The hospital also provides medical imaging and pathology services.
The hospital has a number of affiliations with major Victorian universities to provide both undergraduate and postgraduate Medical, Nursing and Allied health education, clinical placements and training.
Orthopaedic services at this hospital are expanding. The new service will include two staff specialists, two registrars and junior medical staff.
The Job
Working in a collaborative team environment, the Staff Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon will provide best practice care to patients of the hospital; demonstrating and providing clinical leadership and teamwork
Your Orthopaedic work will encompass a range of emergency and elective cases including joint replacements, trauma referrals and inpatients
This role is a permanent, full time position
You will also provide supervision and teaching to Doctors in Training and undergraduate medical students
Participate in surgical audits and department specific meetings
Participate in the on-call orthopaedic roster

Requirements
Current AHPRA registration as a Specialist or the ability to gain registration
Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS) or equivalent
Doctors who have been assessed by the RACS with a Substantially Comparable outcome are eligible to apply
