We are seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse Consultant to provide advanced clinical leadership and expertise within the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service at Metro South Health. In this role, you will make a real impact by improving integration of mental health care in the general hospital setting.
  • Deliver expert clinical consultancy, triage, and assessment services for patients in medical and surgical wards.
  • Provide specialist mental health nursing advice, education, and support to nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals.
  • Lead and contribute to innovation, service redesign, quality improvement, and research within the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry specialty.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, person-centred, and evidence-based care across Metro South Health facilities.
About you:
You are a clinical leader with advanced mental health nursing expertise, strong communication skills, and a passion for mentoring and capacity-building within health teams. You thrive in dynamic environments and bring a proactive, patient-centred approach to your work.
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse, with tertiary qualifications in nursing.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skills, and competence in mental health nursing, including assessment, care planning, and risk management.
  • Proven leadership in mentoring, education, and clinical supervision, fostering positive practice environments.
  • Strong ability to influence, lead change, and contribute to research, quality improvement, and service development initiatives.
