  • Position: Finance Manager
Department: ManagementReports to: Chief Executive OfficerPosition Overview:The Finance Manager takes overall responsibility for managing the financial and risk management operations of the Group; the development of a financial and operational strategy; the metrics tied to that strategy; and the ongoing development and monitoring of financial management and financial control systems designed to preserve the assets of the Group and report accurate financial results.Key Responsibilities:Demonstrate 'ownership' of the financial and risk management operations of MGH through commitment to the following areas of responsibility:General
  • Cultivate a positive work environment where both commitment and enjoyment are evident in all staff every day.
  • Effectively communicate with the Company executives - Directors, CEO, HR Manager, Executive Chef & Marketing and Communications Manager, to drive business outcomes.
  • Lead by example when attending to staff issues, and enable staff to constantly exceed customer expectations.
  • Monitor 'whole of business' compliance requirements, and others as necessary, and coach venue managers where needed.
  • Manage and maintain the Group finance systems, including IT selection.
  • Any other reasonable request as required by Management.
Financial Planning
  • Assist in formulating the Group's Business strategy, and supporting financial initiatives.
  • Develop and drive the Group financial strategy, and agreed metrics to measure financial performance.
  • Develop Group financial projections and forecasts.
  • Propose action plans to ensure that financial objectives and forecasts are attained
  • Control and evaluate the Group's capital raising plans and capital structure
  • Monitor and advise on new project financing and budget management
  • Prepare reliable current and forecasting reports
  • Includes debt raising necessary for the Group's forecast requirements to maintain liquidity
Financial Management
  • Manage the suite of financial reports and Group management accounting activity, as well as statutory external reporting obligations.
  • Ensure full transparency over the financial performance of the Group
  • Manage appropriate financial controls and accounting procedures for all entities in the Group.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly, monthly and annual operating plans and financial plans.
  • Provide advice on how to increase revenue and reduce costs.
  • Submit business activity metrics to ASIC annually.
  • Monitor and manage speed and accuracy of billings and client payments.
  • Manage the capital requests and budgeting processes with Venue Managers, Executive Chef and the CEO.
  • Coordinate and produce all tax documentation as required
  • Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the Group's operations
  • Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts.
  • Responsibility for preparation of- monthly management accounts, board and external reports
  • Preparation of Annual Financial Reports, Tax Returns
Risk Management
  • Effectively and clearly communicate potential risks in a timely manner
  • Monitor and manage Group risk and exposure by analysing liabilities, revenue and investments.
  • Analyse and implement measures to mitigate key elements of the Group's risk profile.
  • Maintain appropriate insurance coverage for all elements of the Group, including future projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Construct and monitor reliable control systems, and report risk issues to the CEO and Directors.
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and statutory regulators.
  • Maintain strong and transparent communication with external auditors and implement their findings and recommendations where agreed.
  • Evaluate Group bids and tenders, and advise on risk and cost benefit analysis.
Human Resources
  • Build a Finance team that is appropriately skilled and qualified, works together with trust and takes responsibility to meet MGH strategy and goals.
  • Develop key finance staff through delegation and mentoring to create a succession plan.
  • Communicate and role model best practice regarding MGH policies on bullying, harassment and discrimination, ensuring all staff are provided with the best possible workplace. Seek advice from Human Resources where needed.
  • Effectively and regularly communicate with the team through a range of channels, and actively encourage transparent communication.
  • Establish and maintain confidentiality of all confidential information and intellectual property.
Workplace Health and Safety
  • Ensure compliance requirements are adhered to, and where possible exceeded.
  • Coach managers in ensuring the use of safe manual handling techniques and following MGH Health, Safety and Environment policies, maintain procedures to minimise our impact on the environment and prevent pollution.
  • Report any equipment maintenance or WHS issues to facilities or relevant departments.
AuthorityThe Finance Manager is ultimately responsible for all financial and risk management activities across the Group, and has the authority needed to successfully achieve those activities.

  • Business Knowledge - able to effectively implement MGH policies and statutory requirements to elevate the business.
  • Experience - minimum 15 years' experience in a similar role.
