We are experts in our field, and we are passionate about mining.The OpportunityRetirement has created an exciting opportunity for a Principal level Electrical Engineer to join our Mining Infrastructure Engineering team within our Newcastle office. This is a great career opportunity to lead a small team of design electrical engineers and join a multi-disciplinary team who are focused on delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients across a range of market sectors.What you'll do:In essence, lead electrical engineering consulting and design for the Newcastle office, this will entail:
  • Leading the technical practices of electrical engineering locally and participating to set practices more broadly in Australia by working with other electrical leads across Australia
  • Approving electrical deliverables
  • Guiding and fostering the development of graduates and mid-level engineers
  • Leading electrical proposals standalone and as part of multi-discipline bids
  • Lead electrical and multi-disciplinary design projects and studies
  • Meet with established and new clients to take briefs and work with them to develop scopes and solutions that address their needs and requirements
  • Be an integral part of our team of engineers to manage and deliver a broad range of electrical engineering projects mainly mining infrastructure and water
  • Project and design management
  • Engineering design control including: deliverables, budgets, forecasting, scheduling etc.
  • Supporting the wider Resources team and other teams within the company nationally when the opportunity presents
What we'll love about you:
  • Exceptional experience in a consultancy environment in the area of electrical engineering
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in electrical engineering
  • Chartered Professional Engineer of Australia
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ)
  • Experience with mining or industrial infrastructure projects
  • Experience managing and mentoring people
  • An experienced Electrical Engineer with technical skills and extensive knowledge in design and engineering within mining, industrial infrastructure, or water design and engineering (power distribution networks, motor control, process plants, understanding of high voltage up to 66kV, automation and control etc.)
  • Design and project management experience through the life cycle of design projects including undertaking studies, preparing concept and detail designs, design delivery and construction phase support
  • Functional Safety and Hazardous Area classification and design competence
  • Experience with engineering design tools like: power modelling, earthing design, drawing tools & systems
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
