About the roleWe are looking for a Specialist Mining Readiness to join the Operational Readiness team working on major project delivery at the Gudai-Darri hub. This role is a great opportunity to use your knowledge and experience to ensure a safe and productive mining operation is implemented as part of the Warrie and Belele-Hillside projects.You’ll be part of a dynamic team, supported by your Leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You’ll work on a Fly in, fly out 5/2/4/3 roster which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life.Reporting to the Superintendent Mining & NPI Readiness you will:

Provide operational input into engineering design and mine planning activities from order of magnitude to project implementation.
Create value by developing, implementing, and communicating the operational readiness execution plan, focused on mining-related aspects including project controls, reporting, risk management, and planning.
Ensure compliance to RTIO standards, user requirement specification and basis of design
Develop business case to justify any project inclusions or omissions improving project outcomes
Investigating and providing a response on related technical queries
Participating in detailed design and risk reviews for operability, maintainability and reliability, influencing and facilitating operations involvement to achieve project outcomes supporting a smooth ramp up and handover

What you’ll bring

Tertiary qualification in a field which will compliment operational readiness related activities with demonstrated experience in the field (Mining, Geology, Surveying or similar
Your specialist advice and support on operating practices and processes in a mining context
Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, able to build strong functional relationships with partners in a complex, matrix organisation
Well-developed people influencing, engagement and communication skills
Mature approach to issues and strong decision-making skill
Proven ability in safety leadership in the mining or relevant industry
A current Australian manual (C Class) driver's license

It will also be beneficial if you have:

Knowledge of and work experience in operational readiness
Technical mine planning experience

Where you’ll be workingOur Gudai-Darri iron ore mine is our most technologically advanced mine. In addition to leveraging technology already in use across Rio Tinto, such as autonomous trucks, trains and drills, Gudai-Darri also has more than 70 design innovations including a reclaimer with a rotable bucket wheel, a world class laboratory and in-field access to data and systems for all team members.The Caterpillar mining fleet at Gudai-Darri includes autonomous trucks, production drills, and in a world first, autonomous water carts.Located 110km north-west of Newman, Gudai-Darri will produce up to 43 million tonnes of iron ore a year in its first phase, contributing to our flagship product, the Pilbara Blend™. It will also become a production hub for our iron ore business, incorporating world class infrastructure and a 166-kilometre rail line connecting the mine to our existing network.Gudai-Darri is creating jobs and business opportunities in Western Australia.
