Our workforce understands what it means to be regional and is committed to the needs of our customers, passengers and communities.The CRN – Country Regional Network ensures the safe movement of people and goods throughout the regions of NSW, and links Sydney to many of the State’s important regional centres.UGLRL is proud to be entrusted with the operations and maintenance of this important piece of rail infrastructure.Job PurposeThis position is responsible to work under the direction of the Head of HSE and assist in overseeing all rail safety requirements and ensuring compliance with network rules and procedures.Key Responsibilities
  • Coaching and mentoring on rail safety, including conducting site visits for mentoring and support both randomly and scheduled
  • Prepare reports of site visit compliance with SMS and Rail Safety National Law
  • Provide support and guidance in the rail safety operational environment for operations and maintenance activities, including support for the business during shutdowns.
  • Assist in the preparation of strategies for working safely within and around rail corridors – including lateral thinking in implementing Safety solutions.
  • Assist in the completion of incident investigations when required and coaching of staff conducting investigations.
  • Support the response, recovery and learning from incidents which may occur.
  • Assist in the development of site-specific safety management documentation such as plans and risk assessments.
  • Monitoring compliance with safety controls and ensuring incidents, hazards and safety conversations are reported and control breaches/incidents are investigated for prevention of recurrence.
  • Audits of compliance with the Safety Management System, including Network Rules and Procedures, and production of reports.
  • Updating of Safety Management System (SMS) documentation as required.
Qualifications
  • Current Class 1 Driving Licence
  • Experience in Rail Safety National Law and Safety Management System requirements
  • Experience in operational rail safety environments.
  • Experience in rail safeworking requirements
  • Experience in delivery of safety initiatives and training
  • Demonstrates a sound understanding of Risk Management principles, controls hierarchy etc.
  • Sound knowledge of HSSE and Quality Systems.
