The Role:We are seeking a suitably experienced and qualified person to provide day-to-day supervision of our conservation and land management teams.This is a “hands-on” role in which you’ll be supervising and contributing to the work of your own small crew, while also overseeing the work of a couple of additional crews reporting to their Team Leaders.Operational activities include planting, spraying, weeding, brushcutter and chainsaw work on multiple client sites across the Greater Sydney Area. While most of our work is in western Sydney, we occasionally support clients in the Blue Mountains, south to Wollongong and north to the Central Coast.In addition to contributing directly to operational activities your responsibilities will include:
  • Ensuring processes are followed and refined to deliver consistent, quality work within project parameters (time and cost)
  • Completing required data entry/documentation relevant to activities
  • Ensuring plant, tools and equipment necessary for operational activities are available
  • Managing team performance, and supporting the training and mentoring of staff
  • Ensuring all requirements relating to work health and safety, environment and quality are met
  • As required, contributing to rostering, work allocations, job planning and quoting etc…
  • Working with the Open Spaces Manager and clients to discuss and resolve technical issues affecting projects on site
About you:Our successful candidate will have:
  • Solid experience (5 years plus is indicative) in conservation and land management activities
  • A relevant qualification (Cert IV in Conservation and Land Management preferred)
  • Some level of supervisory experience and the willingness and capability to accept responsibility and lead/coach others
  • Drivers licence (preferably manual and ideally truck licence)
  • (Ideally) Accreditations in CHEMCERT, White Card, RIW, Chainsaw, First Aid
  • Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • At least moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management applications (GIS mapping experience is desirable)
  • Good organisation, time-management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ideally, experience working with Quality, Environmental and Workplace Health and Safety (QES) management systems
  • Working With Children Check required
