We currently have a part time opportunity for a Business Intelligence Analyst Developer to join our Brisbane office on a 12-month initial contract. In this role you will be working predominantly with business stakeholders to facilitate review and redevelopment of a large body of legacy reporting technology from the Microsoft BI stack into Power BI solutions in a modern best practice architecture.Your new role will involve:
- Design mature conceptual, logical and physical Power BI data models, and implement the latter using T-SQL, Power Query and M language.
- Communicate effectively with data engineers to inform requirements for upstream data warehouse, database and integration development
- Develop Power BI solutions using best practices in M/Power Query, DAX and data visualisation.
- Design and execute test plans for BI solutions, and provide effective hand-overs to operational customers.
- Support and coach users and self-service Power BI developers in operational business teams.
- Manage allocated work in Azure DevOps boards.
- Maintain and demonstrate currency of knowledge in DAX, M/Power Query, and new features as released and available in Power BI, and contribute to team knowledge-sharing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems or similar field, or significant experience deemed the equivalent
- Extensive experience developing, testing, documenting and maintaining solutions using the Power BI platform and applying best practices, including dimensional data modelling, and M- language/Power Query and DAX coding
- Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and Kimball patterns, and relational database structures, theories, principles and practices, is essential.
- Extensive experience developing, testing, documenting and maintaining solutions using the Microsoft T-SQL Server BI suite (2012 version or higher), in particular SSRS and SSIS
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual and problem-solving ability.
- Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Willingness and desire to maintain and continuously improve skillset.
