- Prepare a wide range of research-related contracts with other universities, research institutes, industry partners, government and community groups.
- Establish and maintain positive relationship with Deakin University's partners across industry, government, community and the research sector to ensure efficient management of successful applications and to build and protect the University's reputation with external funding bodies.
- Project manage the review, drafting and execution of contracts, including high-value, multi-party agreements to ensure timely completion.
- Prepare recommendations on risk management and compliance regarding Deakin's policies, procedures, and requirements to enable informed decisions on the execution of competitive and commercial contracts.
- Review, draft, and negotiate a range of competitive and commercial research agreements ensuring the contractual terms and conditions are compliant with University policies, processes, and requirements.
- Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
- Extensive experience and management expertise; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in commercial principles relating to contracts including risk analysis and project costing within a university or other research organisation.
- Established track record in providing strategic advice on contracts to researchers, including IP management, publication and the distribution of risk and liability.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills and demonstrable performance in a role requiring a high level of attention to detail.
