- Preparing written advices regarding all employment law related issues and industrial relations matters
- Providing strategic advice regarding employment and industrial relations disputes
- Appearing at conferences before the relevant court or tribunal
- Researching case law and providing legal analysis
- Drafting court documents and settlement agreements
- Engaging barristers and investigators
- Instructing counsel and senior lawyers during court hearings, mediations and conferences
- Corresponding with opposing solicitors and self-represented applicants
- Liaising with witnesses and drafting statements and affidavits
- Delegating work and providing instructions to lawyers, paralegals and administrative support
- Mentoring and coaching lawyers to support their development
- Supporting graduates and seasonal clerks throughout their rotations
- Retaining and building client relationships and business, including by starting to manage certain client relationships
- Participating in individual and group-wide business development activities
- Tertiary qualification in Law and a current Practicing Certificate for relevant jurisdiction
- Suitable candidates will bring 5-8 years PAE working principally in Employment Law preferably gained in a law practice
- Demonstrated ability in critical thinking, problem-solving, and lateral reasoning
- Skilled at building trusted relationships with stakeholders and earning their confidence
- Expertise in drafting clear, concise legal documents
- Efficient in managing files and billing, with strong organisational skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Outstanding negotiation and influencing abilities
- Experience facilitating presentations and meetings for diverse group sizes
- Proactive mindset, willing to challenge the status quo and propose practical solutions
- Motivated to learn and grow new skills
- Highly organised, with proven ability to plan and prioritise workload to meet deadlines
- Commitment to identifying risks and adhering to established risk management protocols
- Sound judgement in problem resolution and discernment on when to escalate issues
