-We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.Dudley Park Primary School (PS) was opened in 1976 and is set amongst the Tuart trees in the heart of Mandurah. Students at Dudley Park PS come from a variety of social and cultural backgrounds and we are proud of the indigenous heritage of our community.Find out more about our school by visiting orThe RoleAt Dudley Park PS we strive to maximise the participation and achievement of all students, and our Education Assistants work as part of a highly effective collaborative team to support the development of programs relevant to the educational and cultural needs of students with disabilities and additional needs. They also assist students to access the educational programs by working with individuals and small groups across the curriculum.As an Education Assistant - Special Needs you will assist in the implementation of specialised education programs and collaborate with teachers to create and maintain a supportive, inclusive education environment to meet the specific needs of the students. Experience in working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), a pastoral care approach and the capacity to support students with social skills development and emotional regulation are highly desirable. - Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
