We engage with students, community, and stakeholders to provide critical programs, such as the Northern Territory Medical Program, Paramedicine, Rural Clinical School, and the University Department of Rural Health.Our postgraduate education pathways (Remote Health Practice program), provides workforce development through Indigenous health and clinical skills training, and we have a community driven research program led by researchers committed to improving health outcomes. We work alongside Poche SA+NT focussing on Indigenous leadership capacity development and developing the Indigenous health workforce. All activities are driven by our values which focus on the long-term and short-term needs of the NT community.About the RoleThis Teaching Specialist (Academic) position is focused primarily on teaching and teaching-related activities, playing a key role in advancing the University's strategic vision, Making a Difference: The 2025 Agenda.Aligned with the University's commitment to a student-centred approach and the development of creative, enterprising, and career-ready graduates, this role contributes to:

The successful candidate will hold cultural authority and deliver education grounded in Central Australian Indigenous knowledges and cultural practices. They will support student orientation to Indigenous cultures and contexts, particularly during placements, and provide both academic and logistical support to Indigenous students in Central Australia. This role is vital in strengthening the University's engagement with Indigenous communities and supporting culturally responsive healthcare education in the Northern Territory. It also directly contributes to the goals of Flinders University's Reconciliation Action Plan.About YouTo be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
  • Identification as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, recognised by an appropriate community body.
  • A proven ability to deliver high-quality education and training that incorporates Central Australian Indigenous knowledges and cultural practices.
  • A student-centred teaching approach with a strong focus on learning outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a record of effective student and community engagement.
  • Ability to speak at least one Indigenous language of Central Australia.
